Meet the Teaching Artists: The Team Behind Flying Leap's May Day Beyond the Wall Project

In celebration of International Workers' Day this year, Flying Leap Productions had the honor of collaborating with SEIU (Service Employees International Union) on a vibrant, community-centered project for May Day Rallies in Chicago and Seattle. Our team was commissioned to lead workshops and build large-scale puppets that would march alongside workers, activists, and community members, bringing artistic expression to these powerful demonstrations of solidarity.

We're thrilled to introduce the remarkable teaching artists who made this collaboration possible, each bringing their own expertise in education, facilitation, and community engagement to support this important work.

With B.F.A in Theatre, in both the acting and technical realms; they have spent the last decade working with school districts and non-profits to bring the joys of theater, story telling, and improv to students. They are currently the director and designer for Seattle Opera’s Youth Project and a teaching artist at STG, Seattle Children's Theatre, and Seattle Rep. Serving over 500 greater-area Puget Sound students annually, these programs are trauma-sensitive and inclusive. With a passion for new works, Archer consistently connects nonprofit organizations to shows for fundraising and raising awareness. Drama should not only create access for people with little-to-no-support systems to see themselves on stage, but to have those plays generate tangible opportunities for community members to learn and benefit from. At risk youth and carbon-reduced design are top priorities in Archer’s art on stage.

With Gratitude

Flying Leap Productions extends our deepest thanks to this extraordinary team of teaching artists whose creativity, skill, and dedication brought our May Day collaboration with SEIU to life. Their contributions not only facilitated meaningful engagement with union members and the broader community, but also created educational experiences that enriched the project.

The integration of education, art, and activism has long been a powerful force for social change, and we're proud to have worked with these teaching artists who understand the importance of engaging communities in movements for immigrant and worker justice. We look forward to future collaborations that continue to bridge education, art, and advocacy, creating work that resonates with communities and supports movements for positive change.
