ASM for The Garden 2026 NYC Tour

Flying Leap Productions, a nonprofit producer of boundary-breaking performance for families, is seeking performers for a 2026 NYC tour of The Garden, an interactive outdoor performance welcoming very young children under 5 and their families into nature, in public parks. The 2026 tour will visit public parks and NYCHA developments in all 5 boroughs, in partnership with the New Victory Theater.

About The Garden

The Garden is a radically inclusive, meditative performance exploring the life cycle with very young children and their families in public green spaces. In The Garden, families experience the life cycle through all five senses – through movement theater, poetic text in three languages, and interactive play – seated in the grass beneath the open sky in their local public park.

We encourage you to learn more about The Garden at www.flying-leap.com/garden.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a Touring Assistant Stage Manager (ASM) for the Fall 2026 tour of The Garden. The ASM will support load in and load out, set up and breakdown of the set at each tour site, and assist with audience management and performer support. Must have at least 2 years professional experience. Experience with small tours, TYA/TVY, or outdoor performance preferred. Bilingual or experience working in multilingual environments is a plus; valid driver’s license is a plus. Touring company includes three performers, PSM, ASM, on-site producer, and one additional front of house staff member.

Commitment Dates

Performances will take place in Fall 2026 across the 5 boroughs of NYC; rehearsals Aug 20-22 & Aug 31-Sep 5 at the New Victory theater and outdoors, touring dates to include 2-3 days of performances per week in September–October 2026, primarily weekend mornings/afternoons.

Pay Rates

Flying Leap’s pay equity policy is based on the living wage, and meets or exceeds W.A.G.E. rates and comparable union/guild rates when available. This is a non-equity production.

Flying Leap’s current ASM rate is $250/day, plus overtime. A travel stipend is available when traveling more than 1h from home. This rate may be increased in Summer 2026 when the new living wage tables are available.
